Additional Announcements

If a member of your family is admitted to hospital or you are planning to go into hospital please inform Rev Boyd or Carolyn Patterson. The Hospital notification system is not working efficiently and often no news of an admission reaches the church.  It would also be very helpful if you could notify us on discharge from hospital.

It’s that time of year again when the Presbyterian Children’s Society envelopes are in your order of service.  This organisation is there for children of Presbyterian Families who for various reasons find themselves in financial difficulty. The money you so generously give each year is invaluable. The society has been going for 150 years and has helped over 43,000 children – such as the lady whose husband died suddenly, left with the difficult task of bringing up their two-year-old daughter – “There are so many people I don’t know directly helping my life. I love that. That’s the way the church should be”. Real people, real families are helped by your donation and it make such a huge difference. Therefore, please take the envelopes home and any donation no matter how small will be very welcome. Just drop them in the offering plate over the next week or so. Last year we raised £720 so well done everyone. More importantly please remember the society in your prayers. Thank you.  Please see Gary Craig if you would like an envelope.

Weekly Catechism – The Heidelberg Catechism

Q9 Does not God then wrong man, by requiring of him in His law that which he cannot perform?
Ans:
No: for God so made man that he could perform it; but man, through the instigation of the Devil, by wilful disobedience deprived himself and all his posterity of this power.

Q10 Will God suffer such disobedience and apostasy to go unpunished?
Ans: By no means; but He is terribly displeased with our inborn as well as actual sins, and will punish them in just judgement in time and eternity, as He has declared: Cursed is everyone that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.
